Bimbo Rises above Leg Injury to Perform to Sold Out Crowds

UBO - November 23, 2005 - Bimbo, the Latin hip-hop legend and Reggaeton’s newest superstar, has declared that – for the sake of his fans – “The show must go on!”

Despite incurring a severe leg injury late last week that rendered him unable to walk or even stand on his own for a time, Bimbo carried on as scheduled with two extremely rare U.S. performances – for a packed-to-capacity audience in Los Angeles on November 18 and at the celebrated Premios “TOO MUCH” 2005 Ceremony in New York City on November 21.

The most famous Urban Latin Music star of the last two decades, Bimbo remains adamant about his responsibility to his many loyal followers. “The reason I came here was to do these shows for my American fans, who have been asking me to come for a long time now – and I’m sure not going to disappoint them now.”

The Puerto Rican native has been touring the country to showcase his first CD of Reggaeton songs, Bimbo Presenta: Reggaeton 100 x 35 – currently skyrocketing up the Billboard Charts and finally breaking the internationally-renowned artist out big in the States. The red-hot album’s lead single, “Fill Up My Gas Tank” (“Fuleteame El Tanque”), has been burning up dance floors and radios around the world since its initial release.

At his sold-out midnight concert at Los Angeles’ upscale Rumba Room last Friday, Bimbo whipped the jam-packed crowd into a dancing frenzy, performing the first half of his set with no hint of his injury. When he did need to rest his leg, Bimbo brilliantly worked the break seamlessly into his show – by leaning against a stool and singing “Show Me Your Booty,” then inviting women from the audience to come up on stage and dance for him. Bimbo finished the show with a rousing sing-along of “Fill Up My Gas Tank,” exiting the stage to deafening applause. “I was really in pain the entire time – but seeing people’s faces at the end of the show made it worth every minute.”

Only three days and a cross-country trip later, Bimbo was walking again – this time down the media-laden red carpet at the esteemed Premios “TOO MUCH” Ceremony, the annual awards show championing New York City’s illustrious Latin Music scene. Stopping to answer calls for interviews from numerous television, magazine and newspaper reporters, as well as to speak with the crowds of gathered fans, Bimbo was clearly the hit of the awards show long before it had even begun.

Inside the auditorium, Bimbo continued to dazzle the overflow audience, comprised largely of the crème de la crème of the Latin Music Industry and its many diehard fans. After delivering a blistering rendition of his new single, “Fuete” – joined on stage by fellow Chosen Few alumnus and Puerto Rican sensation, TNT – Bimbo proceeded to prove his mettle amongst the elite Reggaeton scene by taking home the coveted trophy for “Most Impactful Reggaeton Artist of the Year.”

Bimbo has established an internationally-respected reputation for his skills at wildly mixing up styles, for his dedication to his fans and for keeping audiences dynamically dancing up a storm. Surmounting the injury that kept him from doing any dancing at his two rare American showcases, Bimbo still made absolutely sure – illustrating his true commitment to “always be there” for his fans – that they most certainly would be!
